Bonjour 🙂
Should your budget and finances allow you to hire a Makeup Artist and/or Hair Stylist, the cost of her/his services will be worth every penny from their great contribution to the final quality of your photographs.
I listed for you here under the names of a few of the Makeup Artists that I have had the pleasure to work with in the past and for you to maybe consider, should they meet your personal selection criteria and your budget… (these ones are local to the Raleigh Durham area that I am based out of, but should you need name suggestions for the other locations where I also frequently shoot for my clients (Florida, California, New York, Paris-France, South of France, Caribbeans etc. please feel free to email my assistant Emily and she will send you the names of who we use frequently in those markets).
Whether you are a Woman or a Man, I very much recommend hiring a professional for your makeup if you can indeed afford it, and as a great makeup artist will make a big difference in the quality and finesse of your final Photos and Portraits.
This is of course not a “pre requisite” for me to create your Portrait or Headshot, and I will of course be more happy to also create your Photographs either without any makeup (if that is your personal preference), or with the makeup that you will have done yourself if you are good at, and used to doing so… but again if you can afford the minimal extra cost, please know that bringing on board for your photo shoot a great makeup Artist is always a wise decision., and also depends on whether they will work on your HAIR as well or not, as some are Hair Stylists as well and can handle both, should you wish to do so.
Other options are also to do your own make up prior to our shoot, or having a friend who is very skilled at it do it for you, or using the services of one of the makeup Artists at the makeup counter of the major brands at Nordstrom™ or any department store for example (and please remember that, like for everything else in life, not everyone is equally skilled at what they do and some of the employees them might or might not know the subtleties and particular techniques which are required for your professional Photo Shoot).
Also if you do know that your skin has a tendency to easily get “shiny”, using the services of a good makeup Artist will also make a major difference in your final photos.
As a final note on that subject, please remember that every single actor, actress, public figures etc… creating Headshots or Modeling shots or Professional shots will, even if it is almost never that obvious on the final photo, be wearing makeup (whether female or male) so if you can afford it, I really suggest that you use such services… but if you are on a budget and cannot afford it (or if you are really great at doing your own makeup), I of course understand that and please know that this is totally OK … I just wanted to mention that option and a few thoughts about it for you…
Note: here are a few options of Hair & Make up Artists local to the Raleigh/Durham area, and who I have had the pleasure to work with, but choosing a Makeup Artist is a very personal choice so please make sure that you make your own valuation of whoever you will decide to hire should you choose to do so… someone who will fit best your personal taste, needs and wishes… someone whose references will fit perfectly your need and wishes…
I can’t wait to meet you at your Photo Shoot and create some GREAT Photographs for you and of you !…
With much love,
pascal
