And on top of his immense talent he was also someone so unapologetic, as EVERYONE should, for any and all of his life choices and SO lived it to the fullest <3 What an ADMIRABLE HUMAN BEING! <3
going to watch it for the… 3rd time…
such a greattttt new show on NETFLIX!
Now… very gentle “heads up” to you… if sexuality and sexual pleasures and making love are NOT a very important part of your life, of your soul, and of your life’s journey… which is of course 100% “OK” (we are allllll equally and beautifully different <3 ) then… maybe pass on watching it…
And if you are, well, the… OPPOSITE of all I just wrote and your sexual/sensual life is VERY important to your soul, spirit, and days… (been happily signed up in that latter category for… well… the past 5 decades of my life! lol – except, and this is ONLY exception where I WOULD have said a very gentle “No” to beautiful love making from my lover/companion at that time was… when either I was crawling on the floor due to extreme kidney stones pain… or for a couple of days after each of my heart attacks… short of those 2 exceptions… pleaseeee sign me up anytime anywhere 😉 🥰😍😉🙃💋💋💋
That show is truly SOOOOO WELL PRODUCED… in soooo many ways…. great rhythm to it… great spirit… great host… and greattttt AMAZING super IN LOVE and IN LUST couples who so clearly ALL adore each other and are sooo kind to each other <3 …and that made my heart smile sooooo BIG and so much to witness it ! <3
Maybe YOU already have found that great amazing deeply connected to partner/lover/companion/soulmate/best friend for yourself? <3 …and if that’s the case it makes my heart smile so big to know so! <3
My little big heart is looking for, and longing for mine <3 … so…. if you happen to know the name of a potential candidate ? 😉 pleaseeeeeee don’t hesitate to reach out <3 <3 <3

COMEDY EMOTIONAL CUTE
…sharing with you an unexpected little GEM that came into my HULU feed… gifting us with AMAZINGGGG PERFORMANCES and AMZINGGGG DIALOGS of 2 fantastic actors… Emma Thompson included (soooo admire her!)
Such a delicate and elegant approach to the very delicate subject of a wonderful Woman having, very tragically, lived a deeply boring and empty of pleasures sex life through her marriage – a reality sadly way too common 🙁 – and her deciding to hire a young make sex worker… and through it all bringing up in such an elegant and delightful way our minds and souls to ponder about so many realities of our lives and emotions… I so loved it and their 2 amazing performances makes it all a true gem…
(btw her “list” (she was a teacher all of her life) after the first third of the movie… is soooo incredibly cute and sad and funny and endearing all at once! )
I SO enjoyed that movie on so very many levels… hope you will too <3
Lots of love to you <3

CHICKFLICK ROMANCE
ACTION + NUCLEAR WAR + MILITARY
Got a few months to spare? These are the 100 best French movies ever released – ranked by our global critics
Tomatometer: 85%
Genre: Mystery and Thriller, Drama, War
Director: Antonin Baudry
Country of origin: France
If you’re in the mood for an action thriller of a war movie, Le Chant du loup is one of the better releases in recent years. The heart-pounding film follows a submarine’s Sonar Officer. Up against the clock, he seeks a French ballistic missile submarine, his keen sense of hearing to end a threat of nuclear war.
if you want to relax with a super cute “light watch”… showcasing the start in life and work life of two adorable young adult sisters(foster)… lots of gentle drama and smiles and laughter… lots of wonderful characters…
… a brand new French series… and an incredibly powerful, moving and… totally heart breaking one in many ways 🙁 … but also filled with endless extremely deep emotions and situations… which I always love to learn from even if it hurts me so much to watch so… and especially for me learning from a world and a life and people that I never knew nor will be part of…
21 BRIDGES
for those of you who, just like I once did when much younger, dreamt and wished for an instant of having been born … in a rich family… do not miss watching that GREAT new series on HULU about the GETTY tycoon (and should I say?… the very OPPOSITE of “TYCOON” when it comes to being loving and kind! 🙁 ) … not only will you super enjoy that great new show… but also now be SUPER THANKFUL to NOT have been born in such a family … but instead be born to parents very “rich” in what truly matters… love and unconditional love to their children… like mine definitely are and were… and I so wish yours are too <3
With lots of love to YOU <3
pascal
btw I am sooooo beyond LOVINGGGG watching all the further episodes… and as makes for such a most amazing life and family saga … and GETTY truly was as dysfunctional of a “tycoon” as you get!… but all of fascinating from a human study and interest standpoint… and also GUESS WHAT!? as an added bonus, the later episodes are taking us to… gorgeous ITALY!!!! <3 SOOOOO freaking GORGEOUS and soulful there… both in Rome as well as in the deep countryside and mountains!
Enjoy <3
for those of you who love TENNIS (like I used to <3 – my body hurts way too much these days and is way too weak to play anymore but… I get great happiness of course for those who can still enjoy it <3 – if YOU do? please hit a big serve for me <3 ) …. this is a very good portraying into the deep character of those 2 great players (and maybe “not so great” 😉 from a human kindness standpoint 😉 )
With much much love to YOU <3

… while unfortunately having yet another very struggling day healthwise… I am trying to still make the best of it by at least learning, and learning always more… about my favorite subject EVER <3 … Life and Human nature…
So amongst others, I have been watching another very powerful documentary on, tragically, YET another despicable predator who we all know by now, Harvey Weinstein… who did rape and abused and hurt SOOOOO many Women 🙁 and hurt them so deep in their soul and entire being that it has brought deep scars and pain to their entire life’s journey 🙁 … and it truly breaks my heart to know so 🙁
And as so I deeply understand, and have endless compassion for, why so many of his victims did not run away at the first sign or him being improper, and such whether they just did not have the strength or wiseness to do so in that moment due to their young age? or they just REALLY “wanted” what he was making them believe he would do for them?… or ANY other reason… and as WE ALL have been there 🙁 – I SO wish that all those who KNEW about it all (NOT the direct victims, but those who were in the know) DID STEP UP and set aside all the things that we so called “great” about being around him or working for him… and make the MORAL PRIORITY the fact that he WAS both DESTROYING LIVES and being a cruel PREDATOR… and THAT should, could… have been their priority in both offering true SUPPORT to the VICTIMS and ALSO in speaking up… it took WAY too long 🙁 and WAY too many VICTIMS (and 1 VICTIM is ALWAYS “1 too many” 🙁 ) for that to start to happen 🙁
If you KNOW of someone hurting others… PLEASE DO SPEAK UP… PLEASE <3 and by doing so YOU WILL DE FACTO SAVE LIVES <3
With lots of love to YOU <3
pascal
a very important movie for ALL of US to watch… and learn from… and learn about how totally soulless and literally CRIMINAL, some of (of course not ALL, many corporations, thankfully, DO have morals) of Corporate America can be… not hesitating to hurting and killing LOTS of human beings… without thinking twice… and in the sole name of MONEY and PROFITS. Very very tragic… and very very IMPORTANT for all of us to know…
We can only have a tiny chance at making the world better and kinder… if we FIRST have, and want to look at, knowledge and awareness of what MUST be changed… this movie accomplished that for me, and hopefully will for you too <3
Btw I was literally “raised on TEFLON” pans… that both my Papa and Maman swore by were the “best” thing in the world… hummmm…. I now learned different 🙁 but they did not know of course 🙁 … and you probably did not either 🙁
With lots of love to YOU <3
pascal
really sooooo deeply moving and heartbreaking in many ways but soooo important for us to watch!!! … so important for us to know… and to build always more love and empathy in our own hearts to offer to others… to all those less lucky than we are…
with lots of love to YOU
pascal
…for those of you who like POWERFUL movies reminding us to embrace always more gratefulness, and always more humility for how so many people are born with so much less “chances” and opportunities and I, and most likely you, had in our childhood, teenage years, in regards to being all SO privileged to a support system of loving and caring parents… instead of being left to the destiny of very poor suburbs and deeply broken up families…
This French movie, which is almost like a documentary, broke my heart a million times about realizing how incredibly HARD and TOUGH and PAINFUL and HOPELESS the lives of way too many young people are 🙁
It is one of the most tragically painful realities of our society, and especially in America (but of course also in every single country, as France in this movie) that there is such a giant dichotomy of “support system” and upbringing between one person born in family A… and another born in family B…
I could talk at length of all that always learn for my heart, my soul and my own journey… to be exposed to, and witness, the lives of those SO deeply less lucky than I have been… and maybe you too?…
It is of course NOT from watching “movies” from the “happy lives happy ending” of Hollywood mainstream productions that we ever learn ANYTHING about “real” life… and it is entirely up to each and everyone of us to sometimes at least… watch movies like this one…
Occasionally watching a movie like this one, WILL without a doubt better your heart and your soul and your whole journey in so many ways… and it will remind you, just as it always reminds me, of how incredibly PRIVILEGED our lives and our upbringing truly were… and how millions others were deprived of the same 🙁
With lots of love to YOU <3 and to all those who struggle so much as in this movie 🙁

super cute little FRENCH gem on Netflix! <3
I wanted to share with you this very little known, and very gentle and delicious mix of COMEDY and DRAMA and LOVE STORY… all beautifully juggled by a great scenario and great actors…
Very light and gentle to watch… and to feel about…
And a few “love making” scenes (even after 35 years in the USA… I still soooo don’t like the expression “having sex” as to me, “having a coffee” for example is, having a coffee for ME, exclusively… it is NOT about sharing and giving… as true love making should always be <3 at least my 2 cents about it! lol ) … so a few love making scenes or references in the movie which are in such a “French spirit” 😉 <3 (aka. more gentle than in most American movies… more connected… empty of any shaming or self shaming… just free and beautiful and enjoyable as it all should always be <3 at least I think so 😉 and love to live so 😉 ).
And the movie brings to our minds and hearts for an instant the beautiful “day dreaming” concept that… maybe from beautiful love making and emotional connection might be the whole key to eradicate all body’s illnesses… too many things are painfully “real” in our days and news… why not day dream of beautiful ones for once ? <3
And also a few super cute… penguins as an added bonus to the movie (and a puppet/fake one where, unlike in Hollywood, they did not even put much effort at all lol … in making it look “real”! but… making up for it in additional beautiful emotions and love <3 ) .
With much love to YOU! <3

It’s the official biopic on YSL, so if you love his work or are just intrigued by him you’ll jump at the opportunity to stream this gem. Watching Jalil Lespert’s film with period costumes and excellent performances by Pierre Niney and Guillaume Gallienne, you’ll not only get a portrait of the famed fashion designer but also of the entire world of Paris haute couture.
Great movie despiting wonderfully what the life, joys and struggles of this amazing designer must have been!
Would I want to watch it again a few years from now? (and if not, it means that to me it was worth enjoying allocating 2 hours of my life to it… mostly getting enjoytment from the brand new discovery of a brand new movie and acting and directing…but I would not allocate AGAIN another 2 hours to it J … ): YES! A GREAT movie from the intense and deep truth of the emotions and life struggles depicted by those great (mostly young) actors!
It is a very “intense” movie from the deep struggles about life and love and emotions and friendship depistec by the actors… so if you want to “relax”… this is not the right movie… If you want to enlight your own life from learning what the lives and struggles of others are, and if you love movie with “real” emotions… then don’t miss it!

Disorder
An ex military man with PTSD becomes a body guard to the wife and child of a rich Lebanese arm dealer.
I loved the “Frenchiness” of it (when I say that what I mean is that I love and very much appreciate how the acting of the actors, the script and the overall videosgprahy and directing is more low profile and “real life” like and more subtle and less “extreme” than sometimes American movies can depict…) and very much enjoyed it but would not rate is as a “great movie” by any stretch. Just an enjoyable 2 hours…

BEST NEW EUROPEAN CINEMA IN 2016 – NETFLIX & CINEMA
The country where cinema was born… the biggest and most important film industry of Europe. Where to start? An impossible task, but we somehow managed to compose a list of the best French movies. Definitely not exhaustive!
The Vore’s Film staff selects the top best French movies of 2016 in cinema or on DVD or Netfix. Are Olivier Assayas, Mia Hansen-Løve & Céline Sciamma France’s biggest directors?
Breaking down the best French films of 2014, and the new French films for 2015 proved to be one hell of a job. 2012 was already an excellent year for French cinema with Rust & Bone, Holy Motors and Dans La Maison, 2013 blew us away with modern classics like La Vie d’Adele.
I do not think that in the last decade I have been able to put together such a hugely diverse list consisting of 8 French films that each are masterpieces in their own right. 2013’s list gives the French cinephile more than he could ever hope for – it has romance, comedy, thrillers, but mainly interpersonal dramas revolving around themes such as sexuality & lust (in six out of the eight films our desires of the flesh are recurrent themes).

Bande de Filles (18-10-2014, 113 minutes)
Sciamma is a master in potraying the growing pains of young girls. Naissance de Pieuvres dealt with a fourteen year old girl falling in love with another girl at a swimming pool during a hot long summer and Tomboy told the story of a ten year old cross dresser. Her latest effort is without a doubt her strongest; yet again a beautifully photographed film about a teenage girl from the outskirts of Paris dealing with love, friendship and gender issues. Please make sure to check out our LGBT list to read more on Sciamma’s films.

Clouds of Sils Maria (10-04-2015, 124 minutes)
Very recently, it was announced that Kristen Stewart is the first American actress in over a thirty years to be nominated for a César Award, the French equivalent of the Oscar. If it had not been sufficiently proved yet, then Clouds of Sils Maria absolutely does: there’s more to Stewart than that sulky girl in love with vampires. In Clouds, Kristen Stewart plays the agent of an aging actress Maria(Binoche) who becomes haunted by her past as she takes on a role in a play that once launched her career. The two rehearse in a remote villa in the French Alps, which ends up in a psychological clash between the young and the aging as Maria has to come to terms with her fading career.

La Vie D’Adele (19-10-2013, 179 minutes)
While the editors of Cahier du Cinema felt that L’inconnu du Lac topped La Vie d’Adele, I personally prefer the intimate, (lets just say it) voyeuristic portrait of a young French girl who is unsure of her sexual orientation in La Vie d’Adele. It is without a doubt the best French film of 2013 (for the US and UK 2014). In this coming of age story we follow Adele, a high schooler, who starts her first lesbian relationship with an enigmatic older bohemian artist played by Lea Seydoux. The film was immediately recognized for what it is, a masterpiece. It was honored with the Palme d’Or prize at Cannes Filmfestival, and the two female leads got special mentions. Besides much critical acclaim, there were non-sense objections made against the 10 minute love scene which was described as pornographic. The film got extra juicy when later on Seydoux and Exarchopoulos accused the French-Tunisian director of not making them feel comfortable and because of the harsh working conditions made them feel like prostitutes. In sum, more than enough reason to go see it.

Part thriller, part romance gay drama, Eastern Boys tells the story of Daniel, a middle-aged Parisian men who embarks on a potentially dangerous romantic relationship with a young immigrant from Eastern Europe. In his naivety, he invites the boy over at his house, unaware of his dangerous friends who use Daniel merely as a bait. Eastern Boys is one of those rare hybrid films which is both tender during its romantic scenes and nerve-wracking during others.

Jeune et Jolie (25-04-2014, 95 minutes)
One of my favorite modern French filmmakers, François Ozon, never fails to beautifully frame intimate interpersonal dramas, often touching upon controversial and almost juicy topics, with great honesty and sincerity. Perhaps best known for his English/French spoken ‘thriller film’ Swimming Pool (2003), and more recently with one of the best French films of 2012, Dans la Maison (2012), Ozon released the highly anticipated Jeune et Jolie aka Young and Beautiful in early 2013. His film, featuring the astonishing Marine Vacth (above), portraits the story of a 17-year old upper-class Parisian girl who takes the exploration of sexuality to a whole new level by secretly trying her luck as a call girl. Jeune et Jolie, not unlike most Ozon films, is a visual treat, but perhaps lacks the depth of his previous films. Despite the often heard critique that the film is slightly superficial, Jeune et Jolie remains an absolute must-watch because it succeeds in making the viewer relate to – and understand the desire to sell your body, and the odd sense of satisfaction it accomplishes.

Les Salauds (06-10-2013, 100 minutes)
An a-typical ‘revenge’ film-noir that through mesmerizing yet disturbing scenes unfolds into a genre film without you realizing it. Completely stripped of actual action scenes, Les Salauds gets under your skin slowly, and does not let go until the end. The amazingly intuitive and visual storytelling by the experienced Claire Denis, keeps you in a constant a state of pleasant bewilderment, never really getting a grip on the characters, but strongly feeling their emotions. In the lead we find Marco, played by Vincent Lindon (Welcome, 2009)) who returns to Paris to target the man who Marco’s sister holds responsible for the suicide of her husband.

Venus in Fur (22-04-2014, 96 minutes)
Admittedly, the trailer of Venus in Fur, Roman Polanski’s latest project, is anything but inviting. Fortunately the film itself shows the genius of Roman Polanski, and deserves a place amongst the best French films 2013. The film is, in a nutshell, about an actress who desperately wants to persuade a director to cast her for a role in his play. La Vénus à la fourrure is very well received, and as not uncommon for Polanski films has also polarized the audience.

L’inconnu du Lac (30-09-2013, 100 minutes)
In the current influx of gay-themed films L’inconnu du Lac is the top of the bill. It is magnificently subtle and spectacularly in-your-face at the same time. Placed in a Eric Rohmer kind of setting at a picturesque French lake where men come to spend their summer days, and occasionally have intercourse in the nearby woods. One of the sun and sex worshippers is Franck who falls in love with the attractive and manly Michel, one of the other guests, although he knows full well that Michel cannot be trusted and is highly dangerous. The film gives the viewer a great sense of the local gay-scene, and despite that the film is largely a very light story, it at one point slowly transforms into a dark yet subtle thriller. A modern French film by Alain Guiraudie (Le roi de l’évasion, 2009) that could truly become a cult classic.

Eden (19-06-2015, 131 minutes))
Mia Hansen-Love (who’s abovementioned directors’ Olivier Assayas wife by the way) directed a handful of small, beautiful films like Le Pére de mes Enfants (2009) and Un Amour de Jeunesse (2011). Beloved (Les Bien Aimés)
This film by Christpohe Honoré with Louis Garrel, Catherine Deneuve and Chiara Mastroianni tells the story of a woman and her daughter spanning several decades from the 60s until today. Filmed in Prague, Reims, London and Paris, we follow the two women’s parallel destinies as they face life’s challenges. A beautiful and touching film about love, death and family with lovely music by Alex Beaupain sung by the actors themselves.
Life of Riley (Aimer, boire et chanter)
This Alain Resnais film with Sabine Azéma and Hippolyte Girardot was the director’s last and came out three weeks after his death in March of last year. In this vaudeville-style story, several of Resnais’ favorite actors incarnate the last days of theater actor George Riley who, upon learning he has a terminal illness, attempts to seduce three of his friends before he dies.
The Jewish Cardinal (Le métis de Dieu)
With Laurent Lucas and Aurélien Recoing, this film by Ilan Duran Cohen traces the life of cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger who was archbishop of Paris from 1981 until 2005 and who was born Jewish. We see Lustiger’s rise within the church, his friendship with Pope John-Paul II and his struggle to close a convent based in Auschwitz.
Tip Top
Isabelle Huppert and Sandrine Kiberlain give excellent performances in this comedic crime story directed by Serge Bozon. The two actresses star as the police of the police, sent to investigate the murder of an informant in a small town in the North of France. Francois Damiens also stars in a funny turn as a rural policeman.
Goodbye First Love (Un amour de jeunesse)
Mia Hansen-Love directs Lola Creton and Sebastian Urzendowsky in this passionate love story that spans several years and centers on two adolescents in contemporary France. Sensitive and poetic, the movie was filmed in Paris and Ardèche, with an especially beautiful performance by Lola Creton.
Blueroom (La Chambre Bleue)
Matthieu Amalric directs himself and Léa Drucker in this suspenseful crime story based on a novel by Simenon. A family man who has a good job in the French gambling industry rekindles a childhood flame and their passion becomes overwhelming, leading to high-stakes drama.
Captial (Le Capital)
This film by Costa-Gravras stars Gad Elmaleh, Bernard Lecoq, and Natacha Regnier. It’s a thriller set in the world of finance spanning Paris, New York and Miami. Elmaleh plays a Parisian banker with consuming ambition who gets caught up in managing a speculative American fund of extremely high value. Lots of suspense with a small dose of criticism of the financial system.
Say “Aah” (Tirez la langue, Mademoiselle)
Louise Bourgoin and Cédric Kahn star in Axelle Ropert’s second feature film. Two general practitioners living in Paris fall for the same woman — a single mother of one of the children for whom they are caring. It’s a comedy along the lines of Ropert’s first film, the excellent The Wolberg Family.

Eastern Boys (31-01-2014, 128 minutes)
